Log splitters

Horizontal log splitters are very compact and easy to store. They weigh around 50 kg and are suitable for splitting smaller pieces of firewood up to 25 cm in diameter and half a meter in length. There are a number of models available. In this category, it is practical to use engines with a voltage of 230 V and a power output of around 1500 W. However, these are real hard workers, able to develop a splitting force of up to 5 tons. You can purchase one such splitter from VARI. It is called the VARI 5 TON SUPER FORCE log splitter.

Vertical log splitters are larger machines with much greater power, needed for splitting really large logs that cannot be split with an axe. Thanks to a new EU regulation on work safety, vertical wood splitters are divided into two groups. Splitters with a piston rod located in the body and splitters with a piston rod located above the body of the splitter. The first group must have a fixed work table for splitting, without the possibility of adjustment, which can be used to split logs with a maximum length of 55 cm. This group includes the VARI 8 TON SUPER FORCE splitters, which are powered by a powerful single-phase or three-phase with an output of 3000 W. The second group of log splitters has a work table at ground level and can be used to split logs longer than one meter. For home use, as well as smaller farms and commercial use (e.g., guesthouses), we recommend the VARI 11 TON SUPER FORCE for 230V or 400V or the VARI 14 TON SUPER FORCE. For the most demanding usage exceeding the common home needs is suitable the VARI 18 TON SUPER FORCE or VARI 22 TON SUPER FORCE log splitter, which is moreover equipped with a three-point hitch on the tractor for an easy transport directly to the splitting place. Since 2020, we have added the VARI 16 TON GAS FORCE log splitter with a four-stroke combustion engine with a displacement of 196 cm³ to our product range. This log splitter is suitable for use wherever there is no access to electricity. All of these above-mentioned log splitters belonging to the second group have two-speed splitting wedges and a low base, so you don't have to lift the logs, just roll them directly to the log splitter. Very heavy logs can also be placed on the side arm connected to the splitter piston, which will help you position the log. These machines usually weigh over 100 kg, so they are equipped with wheels, which make the manipulation much easier.

For a quick processing of large quantities of wood is used the VARIMATIC 300 firewood processor. Logs are processed by a saw and splitter in a single pass. It processes 5-8 m³ of wood per hour with a splitting pressure of 7 TONs. It is suitable for preparing firewood for resale. It is powered by a three-phase 400 V electric engine with an output of 4000 W (saw) and 5000 W (log splitter). Easy transport around the plot is ensured by a towing device.

Finally, one more warning.

Many DIY enthusiasts, in an effort to save money, attempt to build these machines themselves. Such a machine, if built without thorough knowledge and with safety features omitted, can become a time bomb that can cause very serious injuries with permanent consequences. In such a case, the financial savings are a ridiculous priority.
