Table circular saws or so-called circular saws, were used for cutting wood in the past. They were very popular, but also very dangerous. Swivel log saws are considered the substitutes. Safe cutting is ensured by the structure of the swivel saw and the movable cover, which covers the saw blade during the entire cutting time. The construction is equipped with special mouldings to prevent the log from spinning. The wood is moved to the saw using a saw called cradle, not by pushing it on the table as with the old type of circular saw.
You can choose from two types of VARI swivel log saws. Either the KP-500 with a single-phase electric engine with a power of 2800 W and a cutting disc with a diameter of 505 mm, or a KP-700 with a three-phase electric engine with a power of 5000 W and a cutting disc with a diameter of 700 mm. Both saws are characterized by a robust construction, hard metal saw blade and controls according to the latest EU safety standards. Working with VARI swivel log saws is very easy, safe, efficient and effortless.
The next processing of wood is splitting. You may know well chopping logs with a bad ax that keeps coming off the haft. It is definitely worth buying a quality ax for splitting wood. It has exactly the right shape so they easily split the log in half and don't get stuck in it. Very important is also the correct ergonomic shape of the haft, which is comfortable to hold. The haft is made of light and very durable plastic and has a perfectly pressed cutting wedge, making it completely impossible to loosen. However, someone might object that even if such an ax is safe to work with and without unpleasant blisters, it still hurts the hands after a longer time of chopping.
There is a solution even for such a comfortable end user!
Electro-hydraulic wood splitters, which have already found great popularity throughout the EU, will provide an invaluable service. There are horizontal or vertical log splitters, they consist of a robust frame, an electric engine, a pump, a piston, a splitting wedge and control elements for maximal safety operation.
Horizontal log splitters are compact and very easy to store. It weighs around 50 kg and is suitable for splitting smaller pieces of firewood up to 25 cm in diameter and half a meter in length. There is a number of models. In this category, it is practical to use engines with a voltage of 230 V and an output of around 1500 W. But they are real workers, they can develop a splitting force of up to 5 tons. You can also buy one of these splitters from VARI and thus VARI 5 TON SUPER FORCE.
Vertical log splitters are rather larger machines with much more power needed for splitting really large logs, which cannot be chopped with an ax. Vertical log splitters are divided into two groups due to the new EU safety regulations. Log splitters that have a piston rod inside the body and log splitters with a piston rod above the body of the log splitter. The first group must have a fixed worktop for splitting without the possibility of rebuilding, so that a maximum length of splitted logs is 55 cm. The VARI 8 TON SUPER FORCE log splitters belong to this group, powered by either a powerful single-phase or three-phase engine with a power of 3800 W.
The second group of log splitters has a worktop close to the ground and can be used to split logs longer than one meter. For home usage, as well as for smaller farms and commercial usage (e.g. small hotels), we recommend the VARI 11 TON SUPER FORCE at 230 V or 400 V or the VARI 14 TON SUPER FORCE.
For the most demanding usage exceeding common home usage, we would recommend VARI 18 TON SUPER FORCE or VARI 22 TON SUPER FORCE, which moreover has a three-point hitch for easy transport with a tractor directly to the splitting place.
Since 2020, we have in our product range also the VARI 16 TON GAS FORCE splitter with a four-stroke combustion engine with a displacement of 196 cm3. This log splitter is suitable wherever there is no access to electricity. All these log splitters, which belong into the second group, have two-speed splitting wedges and a low base, thanks to which you don't have to lift the logs, you just have to "roll" them. In addition, a very heavy log just place on the side arm, that is connected to the piston of the splitter and helps to lift the log. If you add a splitting cross to the wedge, you can split the logs directly into four pieces. As the weight of these machines is usually over 100 kg, they are equipped with practical wheels that ensure easy handling.
The VARIMATIC 300 firewood processor is used for quick processing of bigger volumes of wood, where logs are processed with a saw and a splitter in one step. It processes 5 - 8 m³ of wood per hour with a splitting force of 7 tons. It is suitable for preparing firewood for resale. It is driven by a three-phase 400 V electric engine with an output of 4000 W (saw) and 5000 W (splitter). Easy transport around the property is ensured by a tow hitch.
One more warning at the end.
Some of those do-it-yourselfers in attempt to save money try to amateur produce the above-mentioned machines. Such a machine, if it is made without deeper knowledge and with the omission of safety features, can become a time bomb that can cause very serious injuries with permanent consequences. In such a case, saving money is a ridiculous priority.
