I have problem with my Vari Raptor hydro. Four years it works normaly, but last year clutch stop worked. I found out one broken bearing in clutch. I have changed it, but it wont helped. When I tried to mowing long grass with RBS700 it stops rotating and clutch overheats. This year I have changed almost all clutch assembly, but it wont helped. 3 minutes of works and clutch stops rotating. Also I have changed belt to RBS700. Raptor hydro are with Kohler motor. There are no problem with Raptor moving by itself - gearbox works. Bearings I have put not original, but SKF bearings. I have moved Raptor to service, but no success. Maybe someone have any idea how to resolve the problem?

Dear Sir

It is quite difficult to adjust the clutch correctly. It is crucial to have the correct clearances, otherwise the clutch will not work well. That is why the complete clutch is available assembled as a spare part.

The first step is to assemble all the parts according to this picture: https://shop.vari.cz/webdata/0000008040_20190606153755DYJZBXIP.pdf. Of course, the parts can't be damaged, dirty or excessively worn out.

Important adjustment steps (the position numbers are taken from the picture mentioned above):
1. Before the driven disc (6) and the pulley (9) are installed, it is necessary to adjust the friction disc (5). The friction disc must be placed about 0,5 mm from the edge of the clutch case (2). This adjustment is made using the spacer rings No. 19, 20 & 21 which are placed between the clutch case and the axial bearing (4). In this step, the braking and engaging functions of the clutch are being balanced. If not set correctly, the friction disc will touch the driven disc and will overheat.

2. Adjustment of the clearance between the driven disc (6) and the pulley (9). When the clutch is NOT engaged, this clearance must be 0,5-0,6 mm. This adjustment is made using washers (22) placed inside the pulley. The clearance is measured using a feeler gauge (with the clutch not engaged). It is necessary to firmly tighten the nut (13). Of course, the springs (10) must be correctly placed inside the respective openings in the pulley and the pins of the pulley must fit into the openings in the driven disc.

3. Check whether the friction disc (5) has no wobble. Take a look through the hole for the control lever. Push the lever lightly until the friction disc sits on the driven disc (6). Rotate the pulley (9). The friction disc can have no considerable wobble.

4. After the clutch is installed on the machine, it is necessary to adjust the cable. When the clutch is not engaged, the lever may have only a small clearance, otherwise the clutch will slip. Details of the lever adjusting are described in the Raptor manual (chapter X.5.7.1, X differs for different languages). If the lever is not set correctly, the clutch will slip.
